On a sweltering day in Zion National Park, the ideal hiking destination is a waterfall. Being midsummer in the desert, the water has almost gone, but it's still refreshingly cool. But don't touch the water, it's contaminated with giardia.
There were warning signs nearby. But I knew for sure once I got drenched and soon afterwards felt the compulsion to gnaw on a nearby tree trunk and to build dams. That was a clear sign that the beaver fever was taking hold of me.
Apparently infection would lead to "Beaver Fever" (thanks Wikipedia). But how did you know about such contamination? Were there warning signs?
